What "licensed OMD" means
In Nevada, acupuncture and Oriental medicine are regulated by the Nevada State Board of Oriental Medicine. Practitioners licensed there hold the title Doctor of Oriental Medicine (OMD). Our OMDs are trained in both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
You will also see these credentials after our practitioners' names:
- MSOM: Master of Science in Oriental Medicine, a graduate degree covering acupuncture, herbal medicine, and biomedical sciences.
- L.Ac.: Licensed Acupuncturist.
- Dipl. OM: Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, a national board certification from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) that covers both acupuncture and Chinese herbology.
Our OMDs also supervise the student clinic
Wongu Health Center is the teaching clinic of Wongu University of Oriental Medicine. Senior interns, 3rd- and 4th-year graduate students, treat patients under the supervision of our licensed OMDs, who review every intern treatment. So whether you book with an OMD directly or with an intern, a licensed doctor is responsible for your care. Learn how the student clinic works.
