Chinese Herbal Medicine in Las Vegas
Custom herbal formulas and teas, put together for you after a consultation and dispensed at our clinic. Your practitioner explains what is in your formula, how to take it, and when to follow up.
How herbal medicine works at Wongu
Herbal medicine is as central to Chinese medicine as acupuncture. Instead of one herb for one symptom, a practitioner combines several herbs into a formula matched to your overall pattern. That pattern includes your main concern, your digestion and sleep, your energy, and what your tongue and pulse show.
Our clinic has a working herbal dispensary of classical formulas and individual herbs. That means you get your formula here, from the person who assessed you, instead of guessing at a supplement aisle or ordering online.
Herbal formulas are taught at Wongu University as part of the Oriental medicine degree, and our licensed OMDs have trained in both acupuncture and herbal medicine.

What to expect
- Consultation. Herbs are prescribed after an assessment during an acupuncture visit, or during a standalone OMD consultation if you only want herbal care.
- Your formula. Your practitioner selects and combines herbs for you, then explains what the formula is meant to support and what it contains.
- Form and dosing. Depending on what is available and what suits you, formulas may be prepared as teas, powders or granules, pills, tinctures, or topical preparations. You'll get clear instructions on how much to take and when.
- Follow-up. Formulas are usually adjusted as things change. Your practitioner will tell you when to check back, and you can request refills through our contact form.
What patients use herbal formulas for
Patients commonly ask about herbs to support digestion, sleep, stress, energy, menstrual and menopausal concerns, and seasonal allergies. They're also used alongside acupuncture for ongoing pain. Formulas are traditionally used to support the body over time and usually aren't a quick fix.
Clinical research on individual herbs and formulas varies widely. Some formulas have been studied, while many have not been tested in rigorous Western-style trials.1 We treat herbs as one part of your care, keep your other providers in the loop when that is useful, and will never ask you to stop a medication your doctor prescribed.
Herbal safety comes first
Tell your practitioner about all medications and supplements you take. Herbal formulas may interact with medications and may not be appropriate during pregnancy or for certain medical conditions.
Please also tell your practitioner if you are breastfeeding, have liver or kidney disease, take blood thinners, or have surgery scheduled. Buy herbs from a qualified practitioner or a reputable source. Quality and contamination vary widely among products sold online.1
