Roller or Jar?

Roller · $10

  • Roll-on herbal oil
  • Beeswax-free, fully plant-based (a good pick if beeswax bothers your skin)
  • No mess on your fingers
  • Best for hands, cuticles, and small areas on the go

Jar · $20

  • Richer beeswax balm
  • Soft pink color and smooth texture
  • More product for everyday use
  • Best for larger areas like elbows and heels

Simple as One, Two, Three

  1. Start with clean, dry skin. Wash and pat the area dry.
  2. Apply a thin layer. A little goes a long way. Roll it on, or warm a small amount of balm between your fingers.
  3. Let it soak in. Give it a few minutes before getting dressed, since the oils can mark fabric.

A Classic Formula, Made by Our University

Jawoongo (자운고) is the Korean name for a classic herbal formula known in Chinese as Zi Yun Gao and in Japanese as Shiunko. It has been a household staple in Korea, Japan, and China for centuries, where families keep it on hand for dry, rough, or chapped skin.

Many traditional versions are a deep purple-red from Zi Cao (lithospermum root). Ours is lighter: a soft pinkish color, somewhere between light purple and yellow. It's made from natural ingredients right here at Wongu University of Oriental Medicine.

Ingredients

The roller and the jar are made from the same herbal formula:

  • Grapeseed oil
  • Dang Gui (Chinese angelica root)
  • Zi Cao (lithospermum root)
  • Bai Shao (white peony root)
  • Bai Xian Pi (dictamnus root bark)
  • Bai Zhi (Angelica dahurica root)
  • Gan Cao (licorice root)
  • Huang Qi (astragalus root)
  • Huang Qin (Baikal skullcap root)
  • Ku Shen (sophora root)
  • Lian Qiao (forsythia fruit)
  • Qing Pi (immature tangerine peel)
  • Zhi Shi (immature bitter orange)
  • Ju Hua (chrysanthemum flower)

The jar also contains beeswax, which gives it its balm texture. The roller has no beeswax.

Good to Know

It can. The oil base, the beeswax in the jar, and the natural herbal color can leave marks on clothing, sheets, and towels. Apply it carefully and let it soak in before getting dressed. It washes off skin with soap and water.
The roller is beeswax-free and made only from plant ingredients. The jar contains beeswax, so it isn't vegan.
Jawoongo is made from natural herbs, and so far the only reactions our clinic has seen have been to the beeswax in the jar. If beeswax bothers your skin, choose the roller, which is beeswax-free.
Keep it somewhere cool with the cap closed. Natural oils and balms can soften or spoil in a hot car, which is easy to do in a Las Vegas summer. Use it by the expiration date printed on the label.
Not at this time. Jawoongo is available for pickup at our front desk during clinic hours.
No. Just stop by the front desk during clinic hours. Because we make it in small batches, it's a good idea to call or text first to make sure it's in stock.

For external use only. Keep out of reach of children. Stop use if irritation occurs. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
