Our Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine Services
From acupuncture and cupping to custom herbal formulas, herbal teas, and wellness consultations, Wongu Health Center is a university teaching clinic offering supervised acupuncture care and Oriental medicine. Treatments are provided by senior student interns under licensed OMD supervision, or directly by licensed OMDs.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the foundation of care at Wongu Health Center. Using sterile, hair-thin needles placed at specific points, acupuncture may help ease pain, promote relaxation, and support overall well-being. It is commonly used as supportive care alongside appropriate medical care.
Each treatment is personalized to your symptoms, health history, and goals. Depending on your needs, your care plan may also include lifestyle guidance, herbal recommendations, or other supportive therapies.
Common reasons patients seek acupuncture:
For stress, sleep, and emotional wellness, acupuncture is offered as supportive care alongside appropriate medical or mental-health care, not as a replacement for it.

Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy uses glass cups to create gentle suction on the skin. Patients commonly seek cupping for muscular tension, soreness, relaxation, and recovery support. At Wongu Health Center, we offer traditional fire cupping sessions lasting up to 30 minutes.
OMD cupping visits include consultation with a licensed OMD to determine the best approach for your condition.
Patients commonly seek cupping for:

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine is an important part of Oriental medicine and helps support care between visits. Rather than a generic, pre-made product, your formula is custom-built for you — after identifying your pattern of imbalance, our practitioners hand-select and combine herbs into a formula or tea tailored specifically to your symptoms, constitution, and treatment goals.
Our herbal dispensary carries classical formulas and individual herbs that may be prepared as teas, pills, powders, tinctures, or topical preparations. Patients can purchase their custom-recommended formulas through the clinic, with herbal prescriptions available starting at $15 per day.
If you already receive acupuncture at Wongu, ask your practitioner whether a custom formula or herbal tea could support your care plan.
Herbal consultations may include:
Tell your practitioner about all medications and supplements you take. Herbal formulas may interact with medications and may not be appropriate during pregnancy or for certain medical conditions.

Wellness Consultations
Wellness consultations are ideal for patients who want a clearer understanding of their health from an Oriental medicine perspective. These visits focus on identifying patterns of imbalance and building a plan that supports your symptoms, lifestyle, and long-term goals.
During your consultation, our practitioners may review your health history, current concerns, tongue and pulse findings, stress levels, digestion, sleep, and daily habits that can influence healing. You will leave with practical next steps and, when appropriate, herbal formula or tea recommendations tailored to your needs.
Consultations may include:
