Acupuncture for Women's Health
Supportive care through every stage: menstrual concerns, fertility, pregnancy, and menopause, always alongside your OB-GYN or fertility specialist.
Women's health has long been a focus of Chinese medicine. Our clinic director, Dr. Eunhee Yu, has years of experience in fertility and women's health.
Who we see
- Menstrual concerns such as painful or irregular periods, and PMS
- Fertility support, including alongside IVF or other fertility treatment
- Pregnancy support, including morning sickness, back pain, and preparing for birth
- Menopause, including hot flashes, sleep changes, and mood
See a doctor first, or go to the ER, if you have:
- very heavy bleeding (soaking a pad or tampon every hour) or bleeding after menopause,
- severe pelvic or abdominal pain, especially with fever,
- during pregnancy: bleeding, severe pain, severe headache, vision changes, or reduced baby movement (call your OB-GYN or 911), or
- a lump in the breast or any new, unexplained symptom.
These can be signs of something that needs medical care right away.
How we treat it at Wongu
A detailed first visit. Your practitioner asks about your cycle, any pregnancy or fertility treatment, your medications, and your goals. Please tell us if you are pregnant or trying to conceive, since some points and herbs are avoided in pregnancy.
Acupuncture tailored to each stage. Treatment is adjusted for where you are: your cycle, fertility treatment schedule, pregnancy trimester, or menopause. You rest for 20–30 minutes in a private room.
Herbal medicine with care. When appropriate, your practitioner may suggest an herbal formula or tea. Herbs are chosen carefully, and some are not used during pregnancy or alongside certain fertility medications.
Pregnancy and birth packages. Dr. Yu and Dr. Sekine offer structured multi-visit packages for pregnancy and birth.
How many visits?
Plans vary a lot by goal. Menstrual and menopause care often starts with weekly visits; fertility and pregnancy care is usually timed around your cycle, treatment schedule, or trimester. Your practitioner will build a plan with you.
Intern or licensed OMD?
Both are available. A supervised student intern visit costs less and gives you a longer first appointment (1.5–2 hours), and a licensed OMD oversees every treatment. A visit with one of our licensed OMDs takes about an hour. Every visit is one-on-one in a private treatment room.
| Visit | Supervised Intern | Licensed OMD |
|---|---|---|
| Initial visit (consultation + treatment) | $80 · 1.5–2 hours | $120 · about 1 hour |
| Follow-up visit | $50 · about 1 hour | $80 · 30–55 minutes |
| Cupping (up to 30 min) | $50 | $100 (includes OMD consultation) |
| Custom herbal formulas & teas | From $15/day | From $15/day |
