Conditions We Treat

What patients come to Wongu Health Center for, and an honest picture of where acupuncture and Chinese medicine can help. We always work alongside your medical care, not in place of it.

In-depth condition guides

These are the concerns we see most often, and where clinical research on acupuncture is strongest. Each guide covers the evidence, what treatment involves, how many visits to expect, and warning signs that mean you should see a doctor first.

Other reasons patients visit us

Patients also come to us for the concerns below. For most of them, we describe acupuncture and herbal medicine as supportive care: they may help you feel better and cope better, and they belong alongside the care you get from your physician or other providers. Your practitioner will talk with you honestly about what to expect.

Neck, shoulder, and joint pain

Neck and shoulder tension, knee and joint pain, and osteoarthritis. The same large analyses that support acupuncture for back pain also found benefits for chronic neck pain and osteoarthritis. Acupuncture and cupping are often combined for muscle tension.

Stress, sleep, and emotional wellness

Many patients tell us they sleep better and feel calmer during a course of treatment. We offer acupuncture as supportive care for stress, sleep, and anxious feelings, alongside appropriate medical or mental-health care, including for veterans. Read 5 ways acupuncture may help with stress.

Women's health

Supportive care for menstrual concerns, fertility, pregnancy, and menopause. Dr. Yu, our clinic director, has years of experience in fertility and women's health. Dr. Yu and Dr. Sekine also offer structured multi-visit packages for pregnancy and birth. Please tell your practitioner if you are pregnant or trying to conceive.

Digestion and long-term wellness

Ongoing digestive concerns, fatigue, and chronic conditions that benefit from steady support. Chinese herbal formulas are often part of care here.

Recovery and treatment comfort

Supportive, adjunctive care for people working toward mobility and comfort goals after an illness or injury, or for nausea, fatigue, sleep, and stress during medical treatment. This care is always coordinated with your medical team. It does not replace neurological care, rehabilitation, or cancer treatment.

What we don't treat

Acupuncture is not emergency care, and it is not a substitute for diagnosis by a physician. If you have chest pain, signs of a stroke, a sudden severe headache, a high fever, or any other emergency, call 911. If you have a new, worsening, or unexplained symptom, see your doctor first. We are happy to see you once serious causes have been ruled out.
